THE FREEDOM PODCAST

Staying Free – The Commitment

As we have learned about our freedom in Christ, we have gained greater understanding of His great love for us and the abundant life He desires for us. In light of what we have learned, let’s take this week to make the commitment to stay free! In this fallen world, we face much darkness – abuse, violence, and betrayal. In spite of our wounds as a result of this darkness, God is able to heal and restore and give us ever-increasing freedom when we commit to Him.

God uses a variety of ways to heal us and set us free – Christian counseling, fellowship with other believers, prayer, time with Him, and more. To stay free, we must press into the Father, and in turn, He will show us the path He has for us through the trust-filled relationship we have with Jesus. It is here that the enemy attacks causing us to doubt God and filling us with shame and anxiety from which we have already been cleansed.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God promises, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The point is we have to choose to believe what Jesus says about us – not the lies of the enemy. When we do the Holy Spirit helps us remain free as we increase our commitment to God. How we live today is our choice – will we allow yesterday to dictate our future or turn to God and commit to remain free in Him?

This week as we face the lies and attacks of the enemy, let us remember to ask the Lord to help us. He wants us to be free – so much so He died so we could have everlasting freedom. Let us be like Paul, keeping our focus on what is ahead, “But I focus on this one thing Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us” (Philippians 3:13-14).  As believers, we have tasted true freedom in Christ and we are looking a future of freedom, filled with hope, all we have to do is commit to Him daily.
