Perfect Love – True Authority

We have made it to the halfway point of A Year to a Better You! Can you believe it? What positive changes have you experienced? Are there any areas with which you continue to struggle? How do we gain authority over these areas of concern? In Philippians 2:10-11, Paul tells us Jesus is the ultimate authority – in heaven and on earth and under the earth – and He alone is worthy of glory, honor, and power. 

Why is this crucial to true authority? Psalm 91:9-10a tells us, “If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you…” Our firm foundation and true authority in spiritual warfare is the extravagant love of God.  God is actively involved in our lives and provides safety in the shadow of His wings. When we continue to walk in fear, we have not yet comprehended the magnitude of the Father’s love for us.

Peter tells us in 2 Peter 1:3, “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” By God’s power, we are equipped for success in the Lord. We grow productive and useful by confessing our sins and then living a life of faithfulness and worship. How? By refocusing from our personal situations and agendas to the Lord and His great love, provision and perspective.   

The final word comes from Peter as recorded in Acts 10:38, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.” In His full authority and with the power of the Holy Spirit worked on behalf of those oppressed and attacked by the devil. And the best news of all is – He is still doing so today!
